„It’s an everyday feeling, almost familiar
That my existence depends on other people’s steps”
Leé József: Kellemetlen
„some step over me, others step on me”
Leé József: Kellemetlen
„Never give up! I owe it to myself.”
Leé József: Nem panaszkodom
„Scornfully, unconcernedly,
Anyone can trespass the premises of my destiny
Which have no walls, without knocking on them.”
Leé József: Vers ( lak ) cím nélkül
Whom we would like to thank for their support
Art is communication with the audiences, with other artists and artworks. Being homeless means non-communication and it results in invisibility. At least from the perspective of the majority, the non-homeless. How do they see the people “without doors” (as one of them puts it in his poem)? Usually what can be seen is the lack; the lack of home, job, money, nice smell, good haircut, dignity… But what is present is the same as in anybody else; the talent, the urge to create and the pleasure in sharing it. These are invisible. These qualities are NOT associated with the homeless. The opportunity is here to listen to them and communicate with them, to take part in this encounter. To prepare a present or just to spend time with them.
The LÁTSZOM! ( I am visible!) – The First Nationwide Festival of Homeless Artists was called into life to provide space and opportunity where they can became visible and tell their own stories.
