Bálint Ház
„It’s an everyday feeling, almost familiar
That my existence depends on other people’s steps”
Leé József: Kellemetlen
„some step over me, others step on me”
Leé József: Kellemetlen
„Never give up! I owe it to myself.”
Leé József: Nem panaszkodom
„Scornfully, unconcernedly,
Anyone can trespass the premises of my destiny
Which have no walls, without knocking on them.”
Leé József: Vers ( lak ) cím nélkül
Bálint House has been offering programs for all generations since a number of years. Dynamic and constant reinvention is part of our strategy in order to provide what is in demand, let it be a new kind of discussion series, a new equipment in the fitness room, a new type of cake in the café, an eagerly waited course or a collection for less fortunate children. First of all we are a platform and an opened gate for the Jewish community of Budapest and Hungary. We help wherever we can and we are looking for the answers – with you.
Bálint House was established in 1994 and it is only 2 minutes walk from the Opera House. The Fitness room and the sauna are located in the “Majré” cellar. The “Éden” playhouse, the “Macesz” and the “Gombóc” rooms (the two be opened into “Maceszgombóc” room) are accessible via the sitting room-like “Smoosery” on the first floor, just like the “Meló” office. The courtyard leads to the “Stika” office (for administrative matters), to the IT room called “Ort” and to the Kohn and Grűn rooms.
Let’t start the journey together. Either on a bike or with any other method of transport, the most important thing is not to lose each other. 2011 is the year of Tandem in Bálint House. Our aim is to join forces and achieve more together, since to work alone is not only less fun but also less likely to lead to success. Let’s talk, have fun and learn together with other generations and with people with other religious background and different views. Let’s be together, for each other.
Our Aims and Mission
The aim of Bálint House it to became the home of the Jewish community; a central space, a kind of agora where the different community initiatives and ideas can find their place.
…
Our important role amongst others is to give a helping hand to Jewish organizations, to offer partnership in order to strengthen the idendity of the Jewish community and to help the self-realization of its‘ members. Our goal is to enable further initiatives. Our cultural and community programs are more than mere meeting points of the Jewish community; we would like to offer a platform for all those who are searching for their roots and for those who are opened to learn about Jewish culture and traditions.
…
Our community center welcomes everybody regardless of their religious background, congregation or world view. We are happy to welcome everyone as long as they respect others and their rights to their opinions.
..
In order to fulfill our mission our goals are
- to serve all the generations and people with various interests in order to spice up the life of the Jewish community
- to organize and to host programs in which Jewish people with various background can raise their questions and find answers
- to offer opportunities for active participation and to provide further assistance for the most active community members in order to realize their initiatives and ideas
- be a platform for various world views, therofore enable pluralism, diversity and openness in the community
- to initiate and to support as many actions as possible in which our cultural preferences are expressed. This is our way to work towards tolerance and pluralism.
- By reaching our goals we can set an example for wider society, and at the same time be a window displaying the life of the Jewish community, their everyday life, their difficulties and success.
